Laura's Story

Finalist of the Great British Bake Off 2020, Laura Adlington has been the standout star of the nation’s favourite baking show. Laura’s sense of humour, positive outlook, resilience and messy baking has had viewers falling in love with not only her baking but also her wonderful personality. Laura is a Gravesend girl, born and bred, who decided to enter the competition after realising her flair and passion for baking. Her flavours are the winning ingredient that the judges championed and admired week after week and saw her through to the final where she created an incredible rainbow dessert tower for her finale bake, topped with her star baker citrus tarts.

Laura aims to use the platform Bake-Off has provided to encourage people to get into baking and not be ashamed to be messy when you’re doing it! Your bakes don’t have to be perfect as she believes it’s the taking part and enjoying the process of having something delicious to eat at the end!

Laura has amassed an incredible social media following of over 120k on her Instagram channel.  Her followers love checking out her delicious baking recipes and Laura loves to share her positive attitude towards mental health and body positivity with them. Laura is a champion for body positivity and is keen help people of all shapes and sizes feel good about themselves through her encouraging social content.

Laura is a volunteer for the Samaritans where she offers her time to give emotional support to people who are going through difficult times. Laura’s calm, kind and caring personality has led to her to become an ambassador for the Samaritan’s Brew Monday Campaign in December 2020 during which she hopes to encourage people to get talking to their friends and loved ones over a cuppa and of course a slice of delicious cake!

Laura is huge fan of musical theatre both as a performer and as a spectator and bonded with Bake-Off presenter Matt Lucas over this shared passion.  She lives in Kent with her husband, also called Matt, who is a Police Community Support Officer.
